Children's Work

As part of the Flock to Skipton project Class 7 have designed and decorated their own MDF sheep in class. The children did their own designs as part of their weekly homework and the class's favourite designs were chosen. We all worked together to decorate the sheep which is now on display in the window of 'Sense' on the High Street.

Class 9's sheep is now in the window of, 'Past Times' in Craven Court.

Class 9 and 10 and the Breakfast Club have also designed their own sheep. Please look out for them around for Skipton. If you like our designs please do vote for us!!

Several Year 3/4 children took part in a Cricket Festival at Sandylands on the 30th of June. It was a fantastically sunny day and the children got the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills; here are just a few of the things they said:

'I liked bowling at the cricket festival and getting mixed up with other schools.' Naomi Large

'I like the fielding because you have to run for the ball, I also enjoyed batting because you have to time it just right to hit the ball.' Adam Barker

'I enjoyed it in the morning when we did the four activities: bowling, batting, throwing and catching. I also enjoyed it in the afternoon when we played cricket and we won both matches.' Ben Lewis

'It was sunny and we were very hot. It was fun and we did throwing, batting and bowling. Bowling is having two fingers at the top of the ball one finger at the side of the ball. Then you put your arm out in front and your arm with the ball at the back. Then you throw with your arms like a windmill. P.S. Thank you!' Casey Tipling

'I really liked all of it because it was really fun and sporty. In the morning we did throwing, catching and batting - I really liked batting.' Owen Cattermole

This term Year 3/4 are taking part in the Rotary Club's Butterfly Garden Project. So far we have decided on our planting scheme; sown seeds outside; sown some inside that need to germinate in a warmer environment; recorded our work so far and started on our rota of watering and tending our plants. The garden is growing beautifully - please do have a look at the 'real thing' when you come into school.

On Friday 27th November our children were rewarded for all their hard work by a performance of, ‘The Jungle Book’. The performance was very interactive with children not just watching the actors but learning and joining in with the songs. Some of our children even took on some of the starring roles in the production itself! It really was a great treat for everyone.

Class 10

On Wednesday 16th December Class 10 rounded off their science work about plants and food chains

by making pizzas using the herbs they grew in class. All the children took part in making them.

Lots of vegetables to be chopped.
Dough ready for rolling out.

Tomato, cheese and lots of healthy toppings to

choose from. Finally our own fresh basil.

Soon we all had delicious, freshly cooked pizza

to enjoy. Yum, yum!

Class 5 Harvest Jam Making

As part of our learning in RE class 5 have been making jam.

We made two varieties; plum and blackberry & apple. We sold all the jam and raised £14.40 for the charity

'Jeans for Jeans'.
