The Governing Body
Governors at Parish Church School are very proud of the school and its achievements. They work hard for the school so that it continually moves from strength to strength and so that all our pupils have the opportunity to achieve their true potential.
The governing body is made up of a number of representative groups:
Mrs Janet Crook
Mrs Lesley Higson
I'm a very positive person and I hope that I transmit this to other people. I hope that people find me approachable and friendly. I've been blessed with a good sense of humour, which can be a useful inter-personal skill. I'm also very interested in lots of things – from Quantum Physics to knitting (but better at the latter these days!). My Christian faith is central to my life, influencing my actions and attitudes, and I enjoy my roles in the church and in helping to lead Collective Worship at the school.
Mr Mumtaz Alavi
Miss Louise Marsden
I am a Mum to three children, one of whom is now at secondary school having attended Parish Church Primary School, my youngest two currently attending Parish. All three have thoroughly enjoyed Parish and hope that, as a Parent Governor, I can contribute to the same experience for every other child that attends this school. I have a good understanding of the school and the community in which the school is based and feel that I can represent a parent voice well on the governing body. I always like to give 100% to every job I commit to and this role is no different.
Mrs Ellen Woodthorpe - Headteacher
I have had 37 years of experience of teaching in three counties - Norfolk, West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. I have been headteacher of two schools and a governor in three schools. I have been Headteacher at Parish Church Primary School since January 2006.
I believe that it is important that all children should enjoy their learning experiences and become independent, self disciplined and self motivated learners. I also believe that children should have the opportunity to achieve the highest standards of which they are capable. I am responsible for standards, in all areas, across the school.
Miss Gemma Heap - Teacher Governor
Local Authority Governor
Mr Darren Lee
Mr Robin Barker - Vice Chair of Governors
I am a Crew Manager Firefighter. I have worked for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for 24 years.
I have been a Governor at Parish for over 6 years and Vice-chair for 3 years.
My two children have both, very happily, passed through the school.
I believe the school gives children a great start on their educational journey; helping them to become, and feel, valued and supported which in turn allows them to achieve their full potential. This is down to the dedication and commitment of all the staff that work so hard at Parish.
My main areas of focus at the school are: Health and Safety, Physical Education and Health and Wellbeing.
