Each child has a skills journal in their writing books and follows the 'steps to success' to develop themselves as independent writers who are reflective and edit their own work. There is a focus on grammar and punctuation skills.
English in the Early Years Foundation Stage
Children are taught early reading and writing skills following the Reading and Writing strands of the Literacy Area of Development. Staff use a variety of texts which offer rich opportunities for developing vocabulary through reading and which provide a strong stimulus for writing.

The Maths Hub materials are used to guide planning and teaching which follows the Number and Shape, Space and Measure strands of the Maths Area of Development.
